Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Canterbury Property Reports Limited ("we", "us") runs this website. This policy explains what personal information we collect through it, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry

Our contact form asks for your name, email address and phone number, the type of report you are interested in, the property address if you know it, and your message.

When you download our Open Home Guide

We ask for your email address, and optionally your name, so we can send you the guide.

When you browse the website

Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information about your visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you found us, for example through a search or an ad. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for this, and our website host keeps standard server logs.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, and arrange and carry out your inspection.
  • To email you the Open Home Guide you asked for.
  • If you download the guide, to send you a short series of follow-up emails with home buying tips and information about our services. Every one includes a link to unsubscribe.
  • To understand how the website is used, and to measure whether our advertising is working, so we can improve both.
  • To protect the website from spam and misuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the website. They handle information on our behalf, only for the purposes above:

  • Vercel, which hosts the website.
  • Resend, which delivers the emails sent from the website.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics and measures our Google Ads.

These providers may store and process information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.

Cookies

Google Analytics and Google Ads use cookies to recognise repeat visits and to tell us when a visit from an ad leads to an enquiry. The website does not need cookies to work, so you can block or delete them in your browser settings and the site will still work normally.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work we carry out, and to meet our business and legal record keeping obligations. Google Analytics keeps visit data for a limited period set in our Analytics account.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including sending it over encrypted connections. No way of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act requires. You can unsubscribe from our follow-up emails at any time using the link in any of them.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Other websites

Our website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or for how they handle your information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
