Canterbury Property Reports has completed thousands of building reports, offering premium inspection services at honest prices. We specialise in both pre-purchase and pre-sale reports for residential and light commercial properties.

Our team includes four highly qualified building inspectors, each with at least 15 years of experience in the building and construction industry. All inspectors are Licensed Building Practitioners and registered qualified builders, each bringing advanced qualifications in various areas of residential and commercial construction.

We use only top-of-the-line inspection equipment to ensure accurate, thorough assessments.

Mitch King

Managing Director + Building Inspector

Mitch has over 20 years of experience in the building and construction industry, covering everything from new builds and heritage renovations to earthquake repairs and large-scale commercial projects. Before founding Canterbury Property Reports in 2017, he managed multimillion-dollar council projects for one of Christchurch’s leading construction companies.

Seeing the need for more detailed and reliable inspection services, Mitch set out to raise industry standards. He introduced advanced reporting systems, invested in specialist equipment, and even helped pioneer the use of commercial subfloor robots for foundation assessments. Since then, he has personally completed thousands of inspections, with the team now surpassing 7,000 across Canterbury.

Building Inspector

With over 20 years of experience in the building and construction industry, Chris has built a well-rounded career across residential, renovation, and light commercial projects.

His background includes high-end architectural builds, heritage restorations, and post-earthquake repair work throughout Canterbury. He has led teams on complex renovations, managed site operations, and delivered detailed, client-focused work under tight timeframes.

In recent years, Chris has specialised in pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections, completing more than 1,800 building reports through his work with Canterbury Property Reports. His calm, practical approach and deep technical knowledge give buyers the clarity they need to make confident property decisions.
